IC3 – Bridge over Ceira river

CONCEPTUAL DESIGN / SERVICES CARRIED OUT

The main part of the bridge is a single concrete pre-stressed box girder built by the balanced cantilever method. The remain part is formed by two pre-stress concrete decks, with a double beam cross-section, built span-by-span with an auxiliary steel launching girder. The deck segments in the main part, near the piers, have a length of 28,0 m and 14,5 m high. The effect of the curvature in plan of the main part of the bridge is neutralized using vertical pre-stress along the deck and piers anchored in the footings.
